The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele has commended the Alumni Association of the University for contributing positively to the emancipation of virile leaders of tomorrow through its support for indigent students.

Professor Bandele made the commendation through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bolanle Ajayi during scholarship award ceremony to one hundred (100) students of Ekiti State University by the Association inside the Oodua auditorium of the University.

He expressed gratitude to members of the Alumni Association for supporting his vision by awarding scholarship to the indigent students of the University.

Professor Bandele, however, told students to be focused and face their studies in order to achieve greatness in their future endeavours.

The National President of the Alumni Association, Professor Matthew Ayeni said that the presentation of the ten thousand naira each to one hundred students of the University was in line with the association’s objectives of contributing to the development of the University both in infrastructure and academic.

Professor Ayeni, further encouraged the students to develop their talents into productive skills and shun mediocrity or incompetence. “Develop instable desire for excellent work” he stressed.

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jide Egunjobi who was a special guest of honour at the occasion praised the Alumni Association for supporting Ekiti State’s pursuit of excellence in the education sector.

Hon. Egunjobi urged the students to value the kind gesture of the Alumni Association of the University urging them to avoid unwholesome attitudes while in school.

The commissioner, after the presentation of the cheques to the students inaugurated the security building constructed by the Alumni Association.  Several students were present at the occasion.
