In a bid to further beautify the Ekiti State University environment and create green areas on campus, the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON) has donated three thousand (3,000) stands of Teak Seedlings to the University.
Prof. Joshua Kayode of the EKSU Faculty of Science who facilitated the donation said the seedlings were the first of the batches of such expected from (BOSON). In his words: “they are for the development of the horticultural beautification of EKSU”. The seedlings were formally presented to Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele by the Head of Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, Dr. Sunday Arowosegbe who reiterated the society’s commitment to a greener EKSU.
Receiving the seedlings, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele noted that the donation would go a long way in contributing to the beautification of EKSU as well as enrich the green areas on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the Botanical Society of Nigeria and Professor Joshua Kayode for their contribution to the development of the University, particularly in the area of what he called “Green Revolution”.
Professor Bandele urged other members of staff to emulate Professor Kayode in contributing positively to the development of the University. He implored Professor Kayode to make sure that the Plant Science Department of the University nurtures the seedlings as a way of consolidating the efforts of BOSON.
