An Acting Vice-Chancellor has been appointed to take over the leadership of Ekiti State University as the institution is currently undergoing a transition period.
In a circular dated 1st February, 2019 with Ref. No. Ad/FD.5/Vol. X/363 signed by the Registrar, Barrister Akin Arogundade, the University community was informed that the visitor to the University and Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has appointed a professor of Biochemistry, Prof. (Mrs.) Olubunmi B. Ajayi as the Acting Vice-Chancellor and she will direct the day to day administration of the University.
The circular also noted that this was sequel to the removal of the former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele.
Similarly, the University community has been made aware of the composition of a new Governing Council led by Professor Bamitale Omole, a seasoned academic and university administrator, Professor Bamitale Omole was appointed by the Visitor as the 11th Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the University, the new Governing Council was inaugurated on Tuesday, 29th January, 2019.
In the meantime, the Management, staff and students of Ekiti State University have congratulated the newly appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Prof. Bamitale Omole.
In an advertorial placed in the Nigerian Tribune and the Nation newspapers of February 1, 2019, the University community expressed optimism that the wealth of experience of Professor Omole who had climbed elevated ranks of the University to become the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife will come useful as he steadies the ship of state university as Pro-Chancellor.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olubunmi B. Ajayi assured the newly appointed Chairman of Governing Council, Prof. Bamitale Omole of the cooperation of members of the staff and prayed that God grant him wisdom and strength on his new position.
