COVID-19: EKSU DONATES MATERIALS TO EKSG
As part of efforts aimed at combating the Corona virus pandemic in Ekiti State, the Management of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti has donated some materials to Ekiti State Government and Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
The materials, which included hand sanitizers, face masks and liquid wash, were produced by the University at a cost of over three million naira, using local materials.
Presenting the materials, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun said that the gesture was to complement the efforts of Ekiti State Government in combating the pandemic. He commended the proactive measures put in place by Governor Kayode Fayemi, which reduced the incidence of the pandemic to the barest minimum in Ekiti State.
Professor Olanipekun also expressed satisfaction at the performance of the Committee put in place by Ekiti State Government so far.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the State Government and Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the Director General, Office of Transformation and Good Governance, Professor Mobolaji Aluko thanked the University for the gesture and noted how Ekiti people were taking the pandemic serious. He remarked that the State was rated 2nd in Nigeria due to the measures put in place by the Governor.
Professor Aluko described the University as a centre of development and therefore, challenged the institution to join global efforts in finding a cure for Corona virus.
Earlier, the Chairman, COVID- 19 Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development), Professor Wale Olajide maintained that the donation of the materials was to demonstrate the philosophy of the University to foster good town and gown relationship.
