NYSCThe Federal Government has been called upon to strengthen the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme in order to enhance the National Unity.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Professor Samuel Oye Bandele made the appeal during a visit to corp members who were painting and renovating the walk way kerbs in the University as part of their community development Services. He warned against the scrapping of the programme. “Don’t scrap NYSC scheme”, Professor Bandele stressed.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the role of the NYSC programme could no longer be under-estimated as it has promoted love in the country and therefore should not be scrapped.

Professor Bandele commended the corp members led by Mr. Adewale Adebambo for carrying out the painting which he said “is in line with his vision of beautifying the entire University”.

He noted that the project by the corp members was an indication that corp members would always contribute their quota to the development of the Nation wherever they find themselves.


He urged them to keep up the spirit of love and unity any where they find themselves.

Speaking at the occasion, the leader of the Corp Members in the University, Mr. Adewale Adebambo thanked the management of EKSU for the priviledge given them to carry out the project.  The NYSC members pledged to continue to carry out projects that would be of benefit to the University.  The NYSC leader pleaded that the emolument of the NYSC members serving in the University be increased.

Those at the occasion included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Olusola Oluwaleye, the Registrar, Barrister Akin Arogundade, the University Bursar, Mr. Tayo Taiwo, the Librarian, Mr. Nathaniel Ajayi and the Deputy Registrar, Information and Corporate Affairs, Ajibade Olubunmi.
