It was a moment of sober reflection and sadness as the University held a commendation service in honour and to pray for the repose of the soul of the late Professor Mrs. Bimbo Kemi Odu who passed onto eternal glory on June 17th 2016, after an illness.
The Vice- Chancellor, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele led the tributes and described the late Professor of clinical psychologist and former Dean, Faculty of Education as a fearless, courageous, kind, loyal and committed staff who gave her best to the growth of the academic and took personal interest in the lives of students, colleagues and friends.
Professor Bandele said, God who gave us Professor Bimbo Odu has taken her back to heavenly glory, adding that she is a perfect example of an upright academic, who abhors cheating and injustice.
In his exhortation, the Deputy Vice- Chancellor development, Professor Victor Olufemi Adeoluwa who was a long term friend of the late Prof Bimbo Odu, said the length of our sojourn on earth, is not for us to decide, according to him, we only have the choice to do good or evil while we are alive and our choice or choices determine where we will spend eternity.
Professor Adeoluwa described his late friend as someone who is altruistic, courageous, dogged and will not tolerate injustice.
He prayed for the husband, Hon Ayodeji Odu, her only daughter, Demilade Odu, family and relations that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

In his tributes, the Bishop of Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Felix Femi Ajakaiye said he was impressed by the quality of personality of late Prof Bimbo Odu while they serve in a government committee and said she has distinguished herself with a life worthy of emulation with the many people she has mentored to greatness.
The Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof Ajayi said the death of Prof Bimbo Odu has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill, he recalled her tenure as Dean of the Faculty as a prosperous one adding that she was dependable and trustworthy.
Prof Ajayi said, late Professor Bimbo Odu singlehandedly produced ten doctorate degree holders (Phd), and supervised hundreds of masters degree holders.
Dr Sola Odu, younger brother of the deceased husband, thanked the University for the honor done to their late wife.
