Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, EKSU, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina, FAS and his team for the tremendous improvement of the University in all spheres in the last three years.

The Monarchs made the commendation during a fact-finding mission to the institution by its committee on Education. The leader of the Education Committee, the Olomuo of Omuo Ekiti, Oba (Dr.) Noah Adejuwon Omonigbehin said they were amazed and impressed by the structures they saw in the University during their visit.

Oba Omonigehin said “things have changed dramatically in this University, words may not be enough to describe our happiness that our University can now rank among notable Universities in Nigeria. We are highly impressed from what we have seen.

He told the Vice-Chancellor and members of the Management who were at the occasion that they came as a result of the directive by the State Council of traditional Rulers to see the development in the University particularly, the College of Medicine.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina said that he was happy that the traditional rulers could visit and observe the positive development in the University. He explained that 99% of the academic programmes in the University have been accredited and that the University was ready for the accreditation of the College of Medicine.

The Provost, College of Medicine, Professor Mathew Araoye further explained that the College of Medicine had been well established by the management of Ekiti State University to the extent that accreditation would be a foregone conclusion.

However, he appealed to the traditional rulers to co-operate with the University to pressurize the State Government to adequately fund the College of Medicine. He said: “College of medicine is capital intensive”.

Several traditional rulers who spoke in English and Yoruba commended the University for the positive growth in the institution. They promised to meet the State Governor on how the College could be adequately funded.

The traditional rulers at the occasion were:  The Olomuo of Omuo-Ekiti , Oba (Dr) Noah Adejuwon Omonigbehin, the Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oba Olaleye Oniyelu, the Olojido of Ido-Ile Ekiti, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, the Alaworoko of Iworoko- Ekiti  Oba M. O. Aladejana, the Obanla of Ijesa Isu , Oba Gabriel Oso, the Owatapa of Itapa-Ekiti Oba (Dr)Makanjuola Ajaja, the Obaloja of Oloje-Ekiti, Oba Peter Afolabi and the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti, Oba J. O. Aina.
