It was another great achievement for Ekiti State University on 8th of April, 2017 at LLCI Alausa, Ikeja Lagos for Nigerian Association of Agricultural Science Students (NAAS) of Nigerian Universities Ekiti State University show cased their academic competency in the field of agriculture.
The Agricmedia conference and expo which had in attendance key speakers from Central Bank Nigeria, Bank of Industry and commercial Banks also had various guests in the Agricultural sector from Kwara, Lagos, Oyo and Ogun States in attendance.
The quiz featured students from nine Universities namely: UNIPORT, UNILAG, EKSU, LAUTECH, FUTA, OAU, FUNAAB, LASPOTECH and UNILORIN with the theme: Agriculture for Sustainable economic diversification and growth. After two rounds, EKSU came First with Forty (40) points overall. while FUNAAB came second. Presenting the three students who represented Ekiti State University; (Ajisafe Babayinka (crop, horticulture and landscape) , Falade Emmanuel Tosin Abiola Ridhwan (Soil, Resources and Environmental Management) to the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of the faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Dairo stated his joy for the opportunity the students had to project the image of the school in positive ways. Together with Mr. Moses Falade of Crop, Horticulture and Landscaping department, who is the 500 level course adviser, the Dean and the students presented the cash prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira (#100,000) and an Infrared Hybrid Solar Infrastructure given to them in Lagos to Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, the Vice-Chancellor.
In his reaction, the Vice- Chancellor on behalf of the Senate, Management, Staff and students of the Ekiti State University, Congratulated the Dean and students for making the University proud. Professor Bandele used the avenue to challenge other students to take a cue from the students of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, shun violence and shine in their academics.
