The Alumni Association of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti has inaugurated the Body of Alumni Professors made up of all Professors that have, at one time or the other, obtained the university’s first or postgraduate degrees.

At the inauguration ceremony, the National President of the Alumni Association, Asiwaju Oludotun Adetunberu explained that there was the need to form a strong nexus on which the University would rest upon, hence, the coming on board of the Association.

Asiwaju Adetunberu further stated that the time has come to re-invent and reposition the University to effectively grapple with her numerous challenges. Accordingly, Professor Gbadura Adanlawo was appointed as the pioneer Chairman of the body while a Deputy Registrar in the University Mr. Isaac Akinleye, would serve as the Secretary.

While welcoming guests to the ceremony, the chairman, local organising committee,  Professor Mathew Ayeni highlighted the justification for forming the body to include: helping to actualize the university’s goals and core values towards becoming a world class institution; providing quality and impactful scientific and technological research and advancing knowledge through innovative use of technology;  collaborating with the University management in raising students that are recognized for their scholarship and academic integrity amongst many others.

In her remarks, the Acting Vice – Chancellor of the University, Professor (Mrs.) Olubunmi B. Ajayi extolled the virtues of the National President, Asiwaju Adetunberu for the innovation and urged the stakeholders to ensure that they achieve the justification for the constitution of the body for the advancement of knowledge in the University. She challenged the Alumni Association to continue to contribute positively to the development of the University, since the State government could not do it alone.

Performing the inauguration ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji commended the zeal of the President and advised the Association to be good mentors to the younger ones.  He promised, on behalf of other alumni in government, to work for the development of the University.

The ceremony was attended by important personalities who are alumni of the University including the Chief of staff to the Governor, Mr. Biodun Omoleye, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Value Orientation, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Association, Mr. Olawale Jegede and over 60 alumni Professors.
