The Governing Council of Ekiti State University has approved the appointment of two senior members of staff; Dr. Abiodun Agnes Popoola to the rank of Professor and Ajibade Olubunmi to the position of Acting Director, Information and Corporate Affairs. The approval was given at its meeting held on Thursday 1st December, 2016.
Prof. Mrs. Abiodun Agnes Popoola’s elevation took effect from 1st October, 2014. She obtained B.Sc. Mathematics Education from the University of Ilorin in 1993. And obtained a Masters Degree from the University of Ibadan in 1998 and Ph.D. Mathematics and Education, from the same University in 2002.
The new professor has attended several overseas conferences including Botswana in 2006, Canada in 2011, Malaysia in 2013, Kenya in 2007 and she was adjudged the best paper presenter at the conference held in the United Kingdom in 2015.
An erudite scholar Professor Popoola has authored several publications including Basic Mathematics for Tertiary Institutions and Fundamentals of Statistics.
Propfessor Abiodun Popoola belongs to several professional organizations including Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ekiti State Chapter; International Reading Association, United States, etc.
The newly appointed Acting Director, Information and Corporate Affairs, Ajibade Olubunmi joined the services of the University in 2001 as a Principal Assistant Registrar, Information and Public Relations. The new appointment took effect from 1st of December, 2016.
He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1979 and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the then University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University.
Mr. Olubunmi began an illustrious career in journalism as an editor II with the Nigerian Television Authorities and has worked his way up the ladder of journalism/public relations to become Managing Editor, Concord Press of Nigeria, before joining the services of the University. An experienced journalist, Ajibade Olubunmi was Deputy Registrar, Information and Corporate Affairs before his new appointment.
He was a former tutor at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ekiti State Campus. A member of the Amnesty International, Ajibade Olubunmi belongs to several professional bodies, including Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He is a Fellow of the West African Society for Communication and Administration (WASCA) and member of the Association of Common Wealth Universities (ACU) Communications, Public Relations and Marketing Network.
The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele has since congratulated the two senior members of staff.
