Ekiti State University will represent Nigeria at a world competition scheduled for China following the landmark success of the University at the Entrepreneurial Action Us (ENACTUS) national competition held in Lagos. ENACTUS national competition was a platform to assess the quality of the combination and strength of Nigerian Universities undergraduates in academic, techno-creativity and entrepreneurship skills.
All participating Universities spread across the nation presented patent projects that were self-designed and were assessed by a group of experts. Ekiti State University presented ten projects out of which three were highly recommended and scaled through to the final stage.
The projects are “ENI IRAN” which is a re-brand copy of Ogotun Mat. TECH 4 RICE which introduced Moringa folia spray and pest control device for Igbemo rice farmers.EASY CLICK which an equipment to recycle Nylon trash to produce fashionable new nylon bags.
EKSU team has an interesting time to convince the experts of the novel discovery and the projects were adjudged the best at the final stage ahead of other Universities including the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, University of Lagos, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Tai Solarin University, and Kaduna Polytechnic.
The victorious EKSU team include team leader, Odupele Dolapo, Adekunle Shamsideen Adesanya Ayomide, Ojedele Temitayo, Chioma Nancy, Adewusi Ayodele, Omosuyi Damilola, Olakitibi Olaoluwa and Falade Oluwadarasimi.
The Team leader, Odupele Dolapo, 300 level Banking and Finance Student said the team was proud of their achievement which was a product of hardwork and self-determination.
He flanked for his support and encouragement. The Coordinator of the EKSU ENACTUS team, Prof. Abayomi Fashina described the victory of Ekiti State University as a proof of the quality of academic and entrepreneurship training given to the students.
Prof. Fasina said the team will not rest on its oars until it conquers the world.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Oladipo Aina commended the EKSU team for their impressive outing adding that the victory has clearly placed the University as one of the best in the country which is in line with the vision of the leadership to transform EKSU to a world class university.
Prof. Aina assured that a befitting reception would be organized for the victorious team who by their landmark success will represent the country at the ENACTUS world cup competition in China later this year.
The EKSU Vice-Chancellor also quoted the recent success of the faculty of law and agricultural science students who emerged top of other universities at the national stage in recent academic assessment. It works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to enable them make a difference in their communities while developing their skills to become socially responsible. ENACTUS leadership and career initiatives also create opportunities for learning and exchange among university undergraduates.
Ekiti State University having emerged as the best in Nigeria will compete with over one thousand universities spread across 39 countries in the ENACTUS World Cup Competition billed for China later this year.
