The new members of the Governing Council led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Professor Bamitale Omole have paid a courtesy visit to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, Aladesanmi III.
The Pro-Chancellor & Governing Council Chairman informed the Royal father and the chiefs that there was a change of guard in the University prompted by the report of the visitation panel set up by the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the University, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Professor Omole noted that the task ahead of the new council was enormous saying “it is to create a path for the glorious future of the institution”. He described members of the governing council as eminent scholars and entrepreneurs who are knowledgeable in the task of taking the EKSU brand to the Global Market of intellectual recognition.
The Registrar, Barrister Akin Arogundade introduced the new council members to the traditional ruler and they all paid homage to the royal father.
In his remarks, Oba Adejugbe said he appreciated the visit to his palace saying “it is a sign of the cordial relationship between the people of Ado-Ekiti and the University community”.
His Royal Majesty posited that he was aware of the immense capacity of the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Bamitale Omole who he described as a distinguished academic and internationally respected scholar adding that he had no doubt that he would transform the University to a centre of excellence.
Oba Adejugbe thereafter prayed for the EKSU council members and wished them well in their new endeavours.
In continuation of the familiarization tour, Professor Bamitale Omole and council members visited the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) to meet with the members of Board of the Hospital where the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Dare Teniola informed the team that the final leg of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) accreditation was near and all hands must be on deck to achieve the accreditation.
Both leaders alongside the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olubunmi B. Ajayi and council members visited the Hostel of the Medical Students.
Professor Omole rounded off his visit with a facility tour of the Ekiti State University campus, inspecting on-going construction of lecture theatres, faculty buildings, students hostel, block industry and the water factory.
