Ekiti State University played host to librarians across the state as part of activities marking the 2015 library week which was celebrated nationally.
To this effect the public lecture on the theory and practice of library services as well as equip the professionals with updated knowledge and skills of modern day 21st Century librarian took place on campus. In his welcome address, the University Librarian, Mr. Nathaniel Ajayi described librarians as occupying strategic positions in any given institution or organisation as they provide effective record keeping, research facilities, historical facts and keep details of long forgotten ideas for today and tomorrow’s use.
Mr. Ajayi welcomed all librarians present from government ministries, parastatals, agencies as well as from the federal university, Oye-Ekiti, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State University and Federal Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Oladipo Aina who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Victor Adeoluwa commended the contribution of librarians to the socio-economic and political development of the society.
Prof. Aina declared opened the 2015 library week and urged participants to take advantage of the training.
