Ekiti State University is determined to ensure the provision of necessary infrastructural facilities in its laboratories to meet up with the global best practices, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele has said.
Professor Bandele disclosed this in his address at the 5th issuance of practicing licenses to B.Sc, Science Laboratory Technology Graduates of the University on Friday, 21st October, 2016.
The Vice-Chancellor at the occasion promised that utmost attention would be given to the training and retraining of technologists both at local and international levels so as to enhance their job performance.
“More equipment and other teaching materials worth millions of naira are being procured for the University Central laboratory with the sole aim of giving ample opportunities to our students to enable them compete effectively with their contemporaries from other institutions” Professor Bandele stressed.
The Vice-Chancellor also observed that science laboratory technologists should be nerve centre of solution to problems particularly in the critical moments of this country and called upon all stakeholders in the profession to look inward for a common goal that could turn around the future of this country.
“As technologists, we must not pretend about the issues and challenges facing the country in its quest for development” Professor Bandele said.
At the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the overall best student, OHUNAYO, Adeniyi Success would be considered for immediate employment.
Ohunayo made a first class in Science Laboratory Technology, Micro-biology.
The acting Registrar/Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), Mr. Yemi Gbadegesi, announced that Practicing licenses would be given to the fresh graduates. He told them to conform to the ethics of their profession.
Mr. Gbadegesin said “I beseech you the inductees, as the new ambassadors of the profession and certified professionals, to actively and consciously listen and office to the oath, and commit to heart the code of ethics.
The Dean of the Faculty of Science, Profess L. K. Olofintoye congratulated the inductees and urged them to be good ambassadors of Ekiti State University.
