The fifth substantive Registrar of Ekiti State University, Barrister Akinwumi Olusola Arogundade assumed duties on Monday, 9th May, 2016 amidst prayers by Pastors, members of staff and management asking God for a successful tenure.
Arogundade entered his office at exactly 8, o clock in the morning accompanied by the men of God from Anglican Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Living Faith Church among other Christian denominations.
Leading the prayers, the Dean, Emmanuel Anglican Cathedral, Ado-Ekiti, Very Reverend Francis Bankole asked for God’s guidance and protection for Arogundade.
With several songs of praise, members of staff with the clergy men including the Deputy Vice Chancellor( Development), Prof Victor Adeoluwa who is a pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God, were united in asking God to direct Barrister Arogundade to be able to perform creditably well with the fear of God and without malice towards anyone.
The session which lasted for one hour involved members of the new Registrar’s immediate family including his wife, Mrs Folakemi Arogundade and traditional High Chief Benjamin Adeyemi Arogundade the Olora of Ado- Ekiti. Shortly after the prayer session, the Dean of the Emmanuel Cathedral sanctified the Registrar’s office while Prof. Adeoluwa offered a special prayer for the new Registrar and his wife.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele and members of management had a special session of prayers for the new Registrar, during his maiden attendance of the University’s Management meeting.
The Vice-Chancellor, who is a Senior Pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Mission, prayed that the new Registrar should have the courage to perform his duties and execute the rules and regulations of the University.
Stressing that no man receives promotion except through God, Prof Bandele led members of management to pray for God’s guidance for Mr. Arogudade
The management further asked God to sustain the peace on campus and continue to lead the management and the new Registrar in their daily endeavours.
Several prayer points were made as supplication to God to make the University great and ward off evils as well as further cement the unity within the management team.
Rounding off the prayers, the Vice Chancellor cited the Bible specifically from the Book of Joshua( Chapter 1 verses 3-7) and admonished the new registrar to be prayerful and of good courage.
The Vice-Chancellor also congratulated the wife of the Registrar saying: “behind a successful man there’s an enduring woman”. He wished her well and encouraged her to support the husband always.
Responding, Barrister Arogundade said that his appointment was divine because he was never planning to become Registrar but a Director in the Legal Affairs Department of the University stressing that it was God’s own design to make a University Registrar.
He expressed gratitude to God, to the Visitor to the University, Governor Ayodele Fayose, The Governing Council headed by Prince Dayo Adeyeye, The Vice Chancellor Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele and members of the University for the Opportunity given him and promised to be loyal and dedicated to duty.
