The Committee on Education of the Ekiti State House of Assembly has promised to work together with the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University to take it to greater heights. The House committee members made this known through its Chairman Hon. Adeshina Animashaun during one of the committee’s visit as part of its oversight functions.
The chairman of the committee, Hon. Animashaun said the team would want to be involved more in the activities of the university to pave way for unilateral understanding and camaraderie.
Hon. Animashaun stressed that the committee has the constitutional power to know the happenings in the University and urged the Vice Chancellor to always carry members along on happenings in the university.
The Vice Chancellor, assured the members of the committee that significant progress has been made within his one year in office and that he has made efforts and attempts to ensure the completion and progress of the projects he met on ground while executing new ones.
The Vice Chancellor informed the committee on the university’s shift from a manually driven one to an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) driven one. He mentioned the university’s acquisition of a NAFDAC registration number for the newly established EKSU water industry. He equally spoke about the university Press which now prints efficiently, and have been responsible for printing the brochure for the next convocation, scheduled to begin on March 27th, 2017.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the management team have tried to instil discipline in the area of academic, by ensuring that lecturers mark and grade scripts within two weeks after examinations among other areas.
The committee members who visited the university included Hon. Owolabi-AkereleTitilayo, Hon. Akinleye Ekundayo, Hon. Mrs Omotoso Samuel, Hon. Fajemilehin Dele, Hon. Arogundade Musa and Hon. Ayeni Wale.
