The Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to Ekiti State University, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has pledged to further make the welfare of staff of the University and the development of the University to a World Class Institution a priority during his second term in office.
Governor Fayemi made the pledge at the Main Auditorium of the University during an unscheduled visit to staff and students of the University who were having the University’s monthly prayer on Tuesday,
3rd June 2014.
At the occasion, the Governor noted that his visit was part of ongoing strategic interactions with non-political organizations and groups. He stressed that EKSU belonged to such constituencies whose contributions could not be over looked.
The governor explained that his government had no intention of increasing tuition fees retrench workers, or impose taxes on staff as being speculated by rumours mongers. He praised the Vice-Chancellor and his team for the tremendous progress made by the University to become a world class institution.
The congregation had a special prayer session for Dr. Kayode Fayemi who is also the Governorship candidate of All Progressive Alliance Congress (APC) in the forth coming governorship election in Ekiti
During an interaction with staff and students, Dr. Fayemi stressed that bursaries for students would be paid to genuine students regularly while the Government would consider several ways of making
the University staff comfortable. He stressed his commitment to make the University residential for staff and students.
He also promised support for staff unions in the University and urged them to always offer constructive suggestions to government. Commenting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Oladipo Aina stressed
that the Governor had been very passionate about the development of the University to a World Class Institution.
Prof. Aina thanked the governor for granting the leadership of the university administrative freedom.
He stressed that his visit came at a special day when the University was having monthly prayer and Vice-Chancellor’s briefing.
Professor Aina solicited for the support of all and sundry for the Governor in the forthcoming election. The occasion was attended by several dignitaries including the Commissioner for Education, Hon.
Kehinde Ojo, Commissioner for Finance, Dapo Kolawole and host of others.
