Ekiti State University has emerged one of five beneficiaries of a research grant of above eleven thousand, eight hundred and thirty-five dollars by a Switzerland based organization, AZTRASZENECA.

            The foreign organisation AZTRASZENECA received about 80 applications from top Universities and research institutes across the globe and selected five on merit.

            Speaking on the Ekiti State University successful application, Prof. Diran Famurewa – a Microbiologist said the Principal Investigator, he was leading a team of virologists to conduct a research into “CONTRIBUTION OF SAFFOLD VIRUS TO ACUTE FLACCID PARALYSIS OF UNKNOW ORIGIN”.

            This research work has now received the support of AZTRAZENECA who would provide financial backing to Ekiti State University to complete the research work.

            Receiving members of the team in his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Oladipo Aina commended the commitment of the research team especially the responsible leadership of Prof. Diran Famurewa adding that other academic staff must also improve their ability to attract global funding and attention to the university.

            Prof. Aina thanked AZTRAZENECA Company and assured them that the fund would be
used judiciously.
