In a move that has been applauded and described as overdue, the Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele last Thursday, 24th of April declared immediate restructuring and upgrading of facilities at the University Health Centre to provide effective medical services to the students and members of staff.

       Prof. Bandele made this known while addressing students led by the Students’ Union President, Oladimeji Ibrahim who demanded that workers at the Centre must attend to emergency cases without unnecessary protocols.  He immediately declared an emergency in the Institution’s Health Centre to allow the restructuring.

       The Vice-Chancellor explained that he wanted the University’s Health Centre to be ranked among the best in terms of comfort, convenience, medical expertise and service delivery.

       Prof. Samuel Bandele also said no student died at the Health Centre as being rumored in some quarters but noted that there was need for service improvement in the Centre

       The Ekiti State University Vice-Chancellor observed that, the University’s Health Centre must adequately serve as complement to the Teaching Hospital and become a referral centre that could eventually boast of modern equipment’s and well trained personnel.
