Members of the 1985 set of sociology students, Ekiti State University have presented a cheque of one hundred thousand naira only to a 300 level medical student of Ekiti State University.
According to the leader of the delegation, Mr. Gbenga Olorunsola who is a Director at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado said the 1985 set of the Sociology students became aware of the financial difficulty being experienced by Aladelokun Ayobamidele who is studying medicine and immediately began moves to help him.
Mr. Olorunsola said the Alumni group members started donating in bits and when it amounted to one hundred thousand naira they decided to present the medical student the first tranche of financial support.
He promised that the money will be for his tuition fees and other academic fees as required.
The young medical student, Aladelokun Ayobamidele said he lost his father when he was in senior secondary school at the federal government college, Usi and his poor mother is only a petty trader when he got admission to study medicine in Ekiti State University.
He explained that fulfilling his financial obligations as a medical student has been difficult and thanked the group for saving his future.
The Provost, College of Medicine, Professor Kehinde Oluwadiya expressed the gratitude of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele to the group for their gesture.
He said Aladelokun Ayobamidele is one of the best students in his set and he is preparing for progression into the clinical stage.
Prof. Oluwadiya also called on alumni of the institution and other organizations to help indigent students who have potential for greatness.
