Mr. Idowu Bamidele Olusola, a native of Ifaki-Ekiti was born on 18th July, 1957 at Ikere-Ekiti.  He attended Ebenezer Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti and Methodist Primary School, Ifaki-Ekiti for his primary education between 1963 and 1970.  He attended Ifaki Grammar School, Ifaki-Ekiti between 1971 and 1973 before proceeding to Christ Commercial Institute, Asaba where he was trained as a Typist between 1974 and 1975 and obtained stages I – III Pitmans Examination Institute of London.  He started his working career with the then Ekiti South Area Planning Authority, Ikere-Ekiti in 1976 and established his own private school for the training of Secretarial staff same year.  He worked with the Town Planning Authority for about three years from where he proceeded to Government Technical College, Okitipupa for further studies.  At Okitipupa he obtained a Diploma in Secretarial Administration (100/50).  He also won an award as the best Secretarial Student for 1981.

Mr. Idowu worked briefly as a classroom teacher, teaching Commerce and Book Keeping at Ajolagun High School, Ikere-Ekiti between September and December, 1981.  In January 1982, he was employed as a Confidential Secretary by the then Ondo State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti where he worked for three and a half months before moving to the Private Sector to work at the defunct Odu’a Textile Industries Limited, Ado-Ekiti. He rose through the ranks to the position of a Personal Assistant to the General Manager/Chief Executive of the Company and voluntarily resigned his appointment on 15th August, 1993 to take up an appointment as a Confidential Secretary with the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti. The appointment which he had been offered since 1992.

Mr. Idowu seized the opportunity offered by the Part-Time Programme of the University and joined the First set of students admitted to study Business Administration in 1996.  He completed his first degree programme with second class honours (upper division) in year 2000. Immediately, he enrolled for his Master’s programme in Public Administration and completed it with an average CGPA of 68.3.

He rose  to the position of a Senior Personal Secretary before he joined the services of erstwhile The University of Education, Ikere-Ekiti as an Assistant Registrar in 2008. When Ekiti State Government was about setting up University of Science and Technology, Ifaki-Ekiti, Mr. Idowu was seconded as one of the two Officers of The University of Education, Ikere-Ekiti who worked under the supervision of Prof. Peter Okebukola to set up the University.

He was subsequently appointed as a Senior Assistant Registrar by the erstwhile University of Science and Technology, Ifaki-Ekiti where he co-coordinated the activities of two divisions (i.e. Council Affairs & Students Affairs) in the Registry Department of that University. When the three Universities in Ekiti State were consolidated into one, and named Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, he was deployed to the Alumni Relations’ Unit of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.  He is currently serving as a Principal Assistant Registrar/Alumni Relations’ Officer of the University.

Mr. Idowu is a member of a number of professional bodies among which are; Institute of Certified Secretaries & Reporters, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, Association of secretarial staff of Nigerian Universities, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators, and Association of University Administrators (U.K.)

Mr. Idowu has attended short training programmes in Duban, South Africa, Northingham, United Kingdom and Accra, Ghana. 

Mr. Idowu is married and the marriage is blessed with wonderful children.
