The Management of Ekiti State University and the entire University community have continued to receive glowing commendation for the historic and befitting host of other Nigerian Universities in the ENACTUS Top Ten for Ten Leadership training which was held in the University campus between 2nd and 6th of March, 2015.

            In an online campus networking platform which connects all Nigerian Universities undergraduates to share information and ideas.  Ekiti State University received overwhelming positive votes among Nigerian Universities shortlisted as the most welcoming campus to host national events.  Majority of the respondents preferred the choice of Ekiti State University and based their choice on their experiences while they visited the Ado-Ekiti Campus of the institution for the ENACTUS Top Ten for Ten Leadership training.

            The undergraduates commented on the warm and beautiful reception of Ekiti people, the peaceful environment and most especially the fatherly embrace of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oladipo Aina who showed extraordinary caring attitude towards the students, they were all ready to come back very soon.

            This debate also led to the motion moved by some students from the Northern Region that Ekiti State University should please host the Campus journalists conference scheduled for July.

            The ENACTUS Top Ten for Ten Leadership training was a platform organized by ENACTUS Nigeria for ENACTUS team in Nigeria tertiary institution to prepare them for leadership, self development as well as how to succeed in life through legitimate means.

            Over fifty Nigeria tertiary institutions comprising Thirty-Four Universities, Six Colleges of Education and Ten Polytechnics arrived at Ekiti State University on the 2nd of March, 2015 for the one week training conference.

            According to the Acting Country Manager of ENACTUS Nigeria, Mr. Michael Ajayi, the first edition of the Top Ten for Ten Leadership conference was held in 2013 at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, 2014 edition at Kwara State University while the choice of Ekiti State University as the 2015 host was because EKSU is the reigning champion of ENACTUS National Competition.

            Ekiti State University emerged the best institution nationwide following her triumph at the 2014 ENACTUS National competition which also qualified EKSU to fly the flag of Nigeria in China at the ENACTUS Global competition but the University could not travel due to the Ebola virus outbreak.

            At the conference, each institution presented ten projects with ten project heads and their faculty advisors in attendance, the judges thereafter called for defence of the projects which must solve any of human and societal problems and marks would be awarded.

            The event was fun filled and afforded undergraduates across the North, South, East and West of Nigeria to know one another and build national patriotism.

            The conference also featured training topics including:

  1. Coming up with solutions to the power problems in Nigeria
  2. Never let fame and wealth stand in the place of care and compassion.
  3. How to become change agents in your community.

This event was historic in the annals of Ekiti State University, it was the first time the University will host a national event of such magnitude similarly with the security problem in the North Eastern part of the Nation, EKSU received undergraduates from ABU Zaria, Bayero University, Kano, Uthman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, Federal Polytechnic, Hekede, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State, while others included Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, University of Ilorin, Babcock University, Caleb University, Ajayi Crowther University and University of Lagos.  The visiting institutions congratulated the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Oladipo Aina for the historic achievement.

            In the projects presentation, Ekiti State University again emerged first, Bayero University, Kano came second while Kwara State University and University of Portharcourt emerged third and fourth respectively.

            The organizers announced that EKSU has automatically qualified for the final round of this year’s competition and victory at the final stage will be Ekiti State University (EKSU) represents Nigeria in South Africa later in the year.

            The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Oladipo Aina commended the participating students for their smart and decent behaviour and thanked the coordinators of ENACTUS in Ekiti State University, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, Dr. Ariyo Awe and Mr. Kehinde Adekanmbi for the success of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) ENACTUS team.

            Prof. Aina said the vision of the institution is to become a first class University in the 21st Century with globally recognised and sought after graduates.
