Maintenance CultureGovernments in various stages, organizations and individuals in Nigeria have been urged to cultivate maintenance culture.

 

Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele made the call while inaugurating the newly completed multi- million naira Centre for Gender Studies building in the University on Thursday .

 

Receiving the keys to the building from the contractor of the project, Mr.Oladimeji Olowe, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the bane of the Nigerian society was lack of maintenance culture adding that it was time for Nigerians to change .

 

Professor Bandele noted that several beautiful structures in some high institutions today remained unkempt because of lack of maintenance culture. He was of the opinion that proper maintenance of buildings and equipments would not only make them last longer but would save money, rebuilding or the reconstruction of such structures.

 

The Vice-Chancellor commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for providing funds and support for the construction of the Edifice.

The building has several features including Lecture rooms, Library, Resource centers, Directors and lecturer offices among others.
