A team from the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has pledged to support Ekiti State University in its vision to become ICT compliant in teaching and non-teaching activities.
Professor Gbenga Aderounmu who is the leader of the team made this promise during a discussion with the Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele on ways to have a virile and active website.
According to Prof. Aderonmu, a University will only rise in webometric ranking, if there is very good ICT infrastructure on ground.
The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof. Bandele said he was seeking collaboration with OAU on ICT because EKSU should move at the speed of light: “When we are ICT driven, then we will move with time, we need help without competition” he said.
Prof. Bandele explained that he was also in discussion with experts from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on ways to improve EKSU website.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Philip Jegede who was at the occasion supported the move by the EKSU Vice-Chancellor and urged him not to relent in making EKSU a University of repute.
