A passionate appeal has gone to the people of Iworoko Ekiti, where some students of Ekiti State University reside, to see the students as their children who must be protected at all times.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele made the appeal while addressing the Alaworoko of Iworoko, Oba Michael Aladejana and his Chiefs at the Alaworoko’s palace on Thursday, 25th February, 2016.

The Vice Chancellor who led members of the management and security Chiefs of the university to the meeting, visibly expressed anger on the report that a student was seriously manhandled by one of the indigenes and that he had to come to meet the traditional ruler and Chiefs to douse the tension generated by the incident.

Professor Bandele warned that the university would not tolerate maltreatment of her students living in their midst. The Alaworoko promised to investigate the matter and suggested that a security’s committee comprising members from the University community and Iworoko community be set up. This according to Oba Aladejana will eliminate frictions in the relationship between the University and Iworoko community. The Alaworoko further promised that students would always be treated as their children.
