The University Teaching and Research Farm hitherto referred to as the University Farm was established in May, 1997 by a pioneering Farm Manager. The Farm was initially situated at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, but was later moved to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in March, 2000 when the Faculty was established. The pioneer Farm manager was Mr. Sola Waya until January 2007; presently, the Farm is headed by Agbebi Joseph.



  • To coordinate the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Students and Staff Research activities.
  • To train the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Students during SIWES, SWEP etc.
  • To demonstrate to students current agricultural enterprises such as
  • Cash and Arable crops
  • Livestock (Poultry, Piggery, Small and Large Ruminants)
  • Fisheries, Snailery and Apiary.
  • Forestry
  • Processing and Marketing of agricultural outputs / produce.


The Farm provides the following under-listed services to the University among others-

Conduct and coordination of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Students and Staff research activities.

Training and Supervision of all students’ practical especially during SIWES, SWEP etc.

Establishment of demonstration farms (Oil palm and Plantain plantations, Maize, Cassava, Yam, Cowpea, Vegetables etc.)

Establishment of Crop Type Collections

Raising and rearing of animal husbandry such as Poultry, Piggery, Cattle, sheep and Goat, Rabbitary etc.

Establishment and stocking of Fish ponds, Apiary (Bee-keeping), Snailery etc.

Establishment and maintenance of Agro-forestry.

Post-harvest activities and marketing of farm produce such as Garri, Palm oil, Eggs, Broilers, Fresh maize and Maize grains, Fish, Beef, Pork, Honey, Vegetables etc.
