The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Professor Samuel Bandele has urged fresh students to shun anti-social activities, such as cultism, drug abuse and examination misconduct. Professor Bandele said this could scuttle their ambitions.
He spoke in Lagos, while addressing the 2015/2016 degree students of the University who are studying at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin. The College is in affiliation with the University.
The University, the Vice Chancellor warned, would not hesitate to punish students, whose behavior failed to conform to acceptable norms of the Ivory Tower.
“You should not engage in any activity that can bring your names and that of the University into disrepute. Let me also emphasize that under no circumstance should be involved in social vices such as examination misconduct, cultism, drug abuse and other unwholesome activities that may hinder your career in the university”, Professor Bandele said.
He urged them to resist negative peer influences and enjoined them to work towards contributing to the country’s developmental need.
The College Provost, Dr. Omolola Ladele, who also urged the students to lead good lives, noted that the two institutions would continue to provide quality teachers for the nation’s school systems. She said, “as the university provides purposeful leadership, the College provides the needed administrative supports and academic instructions. Our administration shall aspire to keep strengthening the human capacity in the college to ensure improved teacher education service delivery”.
