EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY GETS NEW DVCS

The Senate of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti has elected two new Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) to aid the smooth running of the University.

At the Senate meeting held on Wednesday, 26th February, 2020, Professor Patrick Olugbenga Tedela of the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, Faculty of Science was elected Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) while Professor Francis Olawale Olajide of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts emerged as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development).

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Professor Bamitale Omole has approved the appointments of the new Deputy Vice Chancellors on behalf of Council.

The appointments are for a period of two (2) years, renewable for another term.

Professor Patrick Olugbenga Tedela attended the renowned Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti between 1977 and 1982.  He obtained a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Botany from the University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife).  He also obtained M.Sc. degree in Botany, specializing in Plant Systematic in 1991 from the same University.  He holds a Ph.D degree in Botany from the University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti).

Professor Tedela joined the services of the Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) in 1993 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2013.  He has served in many administrative capacities.  He latest being the Provost of the College of Post Graduate Studies before the new appointment.

Prof. Tedela, a Fellow of the African Scientific Institute, is a member of many professional bodies and has published numerous articles in reputable local and international journals.  He is married and blessed with children.

Professor Wale Olajide attended SS Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan in 1971.  He earned three degrees (B.A, M.A and Ph.D) from the University of Ibadan.  He holds a Diploma in Religious Study from the same University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.

He is an astute administrator who has worked across various disciplines such as media, banking, teaching and research.  He is a Professor of Existentialism who specializes in Epistemology, Existentialism and African Philosophy.  Professor Olajide has numerous publications, nationally and internationally.  He often teaches on invitation at a Bible College in the United Kingdom and the Houdegbe North American University, Cotonou, Republic of Benin.

Professor Olajide has served on several boards and committees in the University.  He is also the University Orator.  He is married and blessed with children.

The Deputy Vice Chancellors have resumed in their respective offices.
